You're the first person to know what it is! I'm bugged that the Remix version of the series isn't in stores yet, beyond the first volume (you can order online, but I've been doing too much of that lately). It's a great show. |

I haven't got the Cowboy Bebop DVDs, but I've been told that the Japanese version is preferred--though I'm not sure that's available. Have you ever seen a subtitled version? |

The DVDs contain both, and I always put on the Japanese track with subtitles. Interestingly, the dialogue is somewhat different from the English language version. Why? I'd think they'd just used the translation as the script for the American actors.
I can't get used to the Amercan voices. They just don't sound right. The pitch, the inflection. It feels to generic. Ed, for instance, the strange little girl, has a wonderfully odd voice the American actress can't equal.
After having written my previous post, I broke down and ordered the second volume. |

When I first discovered the series, I had quite a crush on Spike. And felt pretty weird. How can one have a crush on an animated character? |

Ask all the teenage boys who rent or read Heavy Metal. |

I always thought Bugs was a "hottie" - especially disguised as a girl. |

Yeah, well, I recall when it was Daisy Mae who got the boys excited. (Showing my age?) |

Sawyer is reading Judy Blume, on "Lost."
What is truly odd about that, aside from the obvious reader/book mismatch, is that the bunker seems to have a whole library available, and includes a few titles (that we've seen) that would seem more to Sawyer's taste.
BTW, anyone now in doubt that Henry Gale is an Other?
Also, anyone see future sexual sparks between Sayid and Anna-Lucia? I thought there was a definite subtext at one point there which seemed almost like, "OK, you killed my girlfriend, now it's up to you to fill the vacancy." Sayid has already deftly displaced blame for Shannon's death, off of Anna-Lucia and onto the Others and the climate of fear that they create. Hmmm. |

Henry Gale is almost certainly an Other.
I really felt for Bernard in last night's episode. I mean, think about it: if ever there was a perfect excuse for a guy to forget his wedding anniversary, Bernard had it. They've been stranded on an island for about two months now. It's easy to lose track of time in a situation in which daily existence is, at best, a struggle and survival is a question mark. Is Rose understanding of this? Not only no, but hell no. When Bernard said, "I didn't forget our anniversary. I don't even know what day today is," Rose, without missing a beat, replied curtly, "It's Saturday." Sometimes a guy just can't win.
Interesting observations about Sayid and Ana Lucia. I agree about the subtext.
I wonder if I'm the only one who thought Sun was telling the truth when she told Jin that she had not been with another man. After all, if the island can faith-heal Locke out of that wheelchair, it could also restore Jin's virility. I really, really, really love the relationship between Sun and Jin. It is beautifully scripted and the two actors are a joy to watch. |

I believed Sun, but I wondered why she told Jin about the doctor's confession. I mean, what's the point? All she did was give Jin a reason to doubt her honesty. |

Good "Doctor Who" tonight-- the one with Charles Dickens. The only thing is, it portrayed him as very skeptical about spirits and ghosts, whereas he was actually a great believer in spiritualism. Although this episode started off by bringing "Buffy" to mind--corpses rising from their coffins (and... going to the theatre?)--it soon settled itself nicely into the nineteenth century and took its own course. |
