I'm going to fourth it and ask that we all be patient until Wade returns. |

Maybe Lorne can change it in the meantime? I wish Wade well, but it sounded like he would be out for a while. Anyone hear from him lately? |

Of Course! Lorne can do this.
Not as far as I know, Lissa. |

Former presidents stay in touch:
Quote: Bill Clinton and George W. Bush admitted yesterday they had no idea the U.S. was implementing a new rule Monday that would require Canadians and Americans to have passports to cross the border.
The Bush Administration was laying the groundwork for this for several years and Bush didn't know? I wonder if Hillary Clinton knew? |

Is that why they both appeared on stage in a Toronto lecture days BEFORE the new rule went into effect? |

It would be interesting if one of them forgot their passport. |

I heard from someone who was there that the whole thing was a shmoozefest, mutual admiration society. |

You and everyone else who attended or was waiting for reviews, Marc! I'm serious, people wanted them slugging it out! The actual disappointment that it was civil just about made headlines! |

Sean Hannity was fascinating today. While the lead story on CNN, MSNBC, and even other Fox shows, like Shepard Smith's Studio B, was the murder of Dr. Tiller as he was ushering in his church, The intellectual coward Hannity never even reported it. He didn't know how to handle that one, because he couldn't report it straight (ie, as a cold-blooded murder), without seeming to offend his base, who themselves view Tiller as a mass murderer. At the same time, he couldn't afford to offend his producer, so the hypocrite took what must have seemed to him to be the easiest path - say nothing.
Instead, his lead was the President's upcoming trip to Europe and the Middle East. Apparently, he plans to stop in Buchenwald but not Israel? I don't understand it myself, but is it a lead story on a busy news day??
I love Rachel Maddow, but as long as she's opposite Hannity, I'm compelled to watch him. It's a matter of knowing what the enemy is thinking, and it isn't much. It isn't even moral.
It's also hilarious, AND scary. The GOP right now has no leadership or ideas, when what this country needs, and always needs, is a genuine, tough, moral two-party system. |

Quote: Bill Clinton and George W. Bush admitted yesterday they had no idea the U.S. was implementing a new rule Monday that would require Canadians and Americans to have passports to cross the border.
Instead of a passport book, Americans can also get a laminated passport card for border crossings to Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean islands.
I have one coming next week.
It was only $20, I think.
And I believe it's good for a decade like a regular passport. I just got it as another form of ID, since my driver's license in the US expired. |

Canadians have the option of an "enhanced" driver's license as well which will work for land (and sea, I believe) but not air crossings. So once one is getting a passport to fly, why not just use the 1 piece of I.D.? Their projections for the enhanced license fell flat, as only a fraction of the people has, so far, obtained it. |

When we got to the EuropCar desk at the Dublin Airport to pick up our pre-booked Nissan sedan, our 31 yr old son was told his license had expired on his last birthday, Jan 10. If you knew Jack you would not be surprised - a great kid, but "impractical". He's good at reading Irish lit, though.
So my 65 yr old wife had to step in. But after she nearly hit the first stone bridge we came to, Jack took over anyway for the remainder (ten days), sans insurance. He did fine. |
