That Sam Peckinpah box came out awhile ago because I watched three of the films included last weekend.

Celia Weston is a marvelous actress who still was a complete washout as Mom in the Philip Seymour Hoffman-John C. Reilly True West on Broadway. Sam Shepard wrote two great roles, a sorta okay one in the agent, and a real stinker in Mom. Weston was in a no-win situation. It's a case of bad writing happening to good actors.

I completely agree. It was a shame, actually. Reilly and Hoffman were both outstanding, though. Did you see both versions?

No, I just saw Hoffman as Austin and Reilly as Lee--the obvious casting choices, but I would have been interested in the opposite casting. I just have too many problems with the play as a whole to sit through it again.

REPO MAN has been available on dvd for at least 10 years. The new release is a new transfer and I hear its very very nice looking.

I have Thumbsucker waiting to be watched, too. Is the Mike Mills that directed Thumbsucker the same Mike Mills that's a member of REM?

Although that's not always a definitive sign - they get things wrong on a regular basis.

I wanted to see Thumbsucker until I learned the title wasn't just a metaphor.
