I definitely recommend IN HER SHOES. It's NOT just a chick flick.
Cameron Diaz shows a lot more range than I would have expected. Her performance is quite impressive...as is that of Toni Collette.
Shirley Maclaine plays the grannie with a lot more sensitivity than the ditsy grandma character of Cloris Leachman in SPANGLISH.
This is a very rentable movie. |

Quote: Puleeze...........no remarks about Ralph Fiennes sexual chemistry. His girlfriend is in her 60's..............and there are many attractive women in their 60's......He is a role model for all of you!
Agreed. There's an increasing gold mine of fit, still-attractive 60-year-olds, and a mind-blowing number of just-plain-hot 50-somethings.
That is...um...according to the newpaper articles and what other people say. I don't know a damn thing about any of it. |

Oh, yeah. There are some very bang-able 50-somethings. |

I'm 65, and I continue to look at the 17-21 yr old set, especially Asians with boobs. There is no substitute for prime of life. |

In Her Shoes is a wonderful movie. It was terrific in the movie theater, and I think it will translate beautifully to DVD. MacLaine and Diaz and Norman Lloyd and Mark Feuerstein are all aces. Collette is somewhat less than she was in Muriel's Wedding and The Sixth Sense, but she holds up her end well. |

The two hottest films tonight at Blockbuster here in Salt Lake valley were THE CONSTANT GARDENER and HUSTLE & FLOW. I rented that last copy of THE CONSTANT GARDENER today, HUSTLE & FLOW was out. |

Just watched Neil Marshall's balls to wall horror flick THE DESCENT, which will be screened in a week at Sundance 2006, The plot is basic: 6 women in their 30s go cave exploring in the Appalachian Mountains. They're extreme sports enthusiasts and its a bonding adventure that is basically a form of therapy for one of the women who has lost her husband and daughteR in a car accident. Of course, they get lost in these gargantuan caves. The hook: they become prey to bunch of mole-like cannibals. These creatures are genuinely scary, looking somewhat like really really evil versions of Gollum. This motherfuckin' film is scary! I have never heard my wife scream so loudly during a horror film...and she's one tough cookie. Anyway, be prepared to hear alot of buzz on THE DESCENT in coming weeks. I do not know when its offical US theatrical release will be, but it available on import dvd from Amazon U.K. |

As the saying goes: READ THE BOOK! SEE THE MOVIE!
The Descent by Jeff Long is a gripping, nasty look at a previously unsuspected race of subterraneans discovered deep below the Earth worldwide. Sounds like the book is much more ambitious in scope than the movie you've described, but seek it out if you like unpredictable horror/adventure stuff. I find Jeff Long's stuff well-written and worth the time. And I look forward to seeing the movie. |
