By the way, the DVD of The Lost Continent contains a trailer that gives away all of the ludicrous special effects. You get to see everything relevant in five minutes, including the buxom female and silly monsters. Watch the trailer and find another movie.

If I remember correctly, wasn't this one of a slew of ropey, British adventure films starring Doug McClure (included with an eye to the American market) who you may remember from such Western serials as The Virginian.

I too found this turkey some time back a made several attempts to get rid of it but of course it stayed much like the seaweed, I finally had to move leaving it behind to consume Savannah.

The German film The Edukators (2004), directed by Hans Weingartner, is about the young G-8 protesters, social activists fighting the exploitation of the world's poor by the conglomerates. The interaction of three of these kids with a super-wealthy businessman creates a tense and at times comical saga. Some of the dialogue is just political speechifying, and parts of the story may be a stretch, but the drama is well sculptured and keeps you interested throughout. Excellent direction and performances. An enjoyable movie.

Yes, you may remebr Doug Mclure from such clunky, pre-cgi, effect-laden adventures as The Land That Time Forgot and At The Earths Core.

I couldn't like Edukators because of its preachiness. And it was too long. Plus, I was ready for a comedy. (I think the box described it so.) It was a funny premise starting out. And I agree, the acting was good.

What twit described The Edukators as a comedy?? It's my pick for best foreign film, as well as one of my favourites of the year overall.

Yes, the editorializing was a bit juvenile, but it was such a great story with such great performances and direction that I didn't care.

Google "edukators comedy" and you'll see there's more than one twit.

Funny how much people change over time.

Funny how friendships can be tweaked into romance or hatred.

Funny how our wisdom and our ideals end up being incompatible with each other.

I guess they're right - The Edukators is one funny film.

I don’t know why I like this so much. I heard it on PBS:
After WWII, a young man left England for the Continent to search for his Jewish grandfather. By amazing good luck he found him and arranged for him to start a new life in England. “Papa, you’re going to have to forsake your old identity and begin thinking of yourself as English.”
So they visit a barber shop, where the man’s beard is shaved off. Then the barber starts on his
dangling locks, and the man begins to weep. “Papa, are you crying for losing part of your past?” “No, I’m crying because we lost India.”

LOL, Yambu!

BTW, as I recall, the sidelocks are called "peas" (2 syllables). When I worked at a costume rental shop, our wig supplier sold fake ones in punk colors!

Just watched IVANS XTC directed by Bernard Rose. Its a dark view of the business and politics of Hollywood. Lots of drugs and sex. And sadness.
