Glad to hear Mitty's okay, but I'm concerned this outpouring of happy talk will piss Marc off. |

By the way, here in Montreal it was 27 degrees Celcius today - that's about 83 Fahrenheit.
Same yesterday, same tomorrow.
Sorry Gary. |

Sorry Gary.
More like 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Stop padding your figures. |

Thanks for sharing that Yambu. Good to hear Mitty's voice on these forums again. I'm glad she got a good sleep during the hurricane. |

I'll compile your comment with those of others and ship them to her. |

Gary
I'm here - yell away - we're having beautiful autumn weather -snow on the mountain tops and golden aspen on the mountain sides - the elk are bugling and the chiles are roasting - come on over and I will make a gumbo and pumpkin pie. |

Yambu can you add this to the messages you are sending to Mitty?
Mitty
I am so glad to hear that you are Ok. Now I have heard from everyone I know from that area - family, friends and cyber friend. No one was hurt , a couple lost everything, some say they will never return but most are determined to rebuild. I am lookong forward to reading your posts when you get a phone line again.

I hope to be back after the weekend. But in the meantime, please don't write to Mitty. She is on dial up and went to a friend's house to write to some of us. But since she has no phone service if you write to her, your emails will just pop back as her mailbox is full.
What I will try to do is get her cell phone number and let her know we're all celebrating her safe return. |

Popping in just to say you won't be around. Tease. |

Tell her we're waiting for her to come back and host a book forum on Chauser. That will speed her up. |

How bizarre. Today, Oct. 4th is the start of Ramadan. A solar eclipse on Oct. 3 marked the start of Ramadan for Oct. 4 for approx. 1 month.
I think they're both based on the lunar calendar, so different holidays should fall at the same time.
I heard that they coincide every 33 years. And I believe it was a lunar, not solar, eclipse.
No Oct 3 was a solar eclipse |

I heard that they coincide every 33 years.
Not exactly. The Islamic calendar is strictly lunar (12 lunar months, or 354-5 days), while the Jewish calendar is lunar-solar, adding a month every few years to make New Years begin on the first new moon of the fall. Ramadan moves through the year, and when it also begins on the first new moon of the fall, it begins on the Jewish new year. It did so this year, will do it again in 2006 and 2007, then the Jewish calendar adds the extra month and the Islamic does not, and they won't coincide for until around 2040. |
