Bocce, if you give the rationale behind each triad, we may applaud or shoot you down.

I still have yet to finish Roma and it looks as though our moderator has jumped ship. Ahhh, those hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer. . .

Some other people had talked of scandals in Fellini's film "Roma".

You may have heard of this, but Fellini also got in trouble from the Catholic Church from "Nights of Cabiria". The scene where the man is helping the people in the holes was cut from the original version. It is thought that the reason for this was that the Church wanted the Italians to think that the poor were taken care of. The Church didn't want citizens to think that people like the man with the sack were helping where the Church wasn't.

Otto, thanks for your post. We too were fascinated by the "good samaritan" episode when we discussed Nights of the Cabiria (please see page 16).

Did anyone notice the differences and similarities between Roma and Amarcord. In Roma, most of the people seem to be at a peak of disgusting behavior that affects the viewer in a down right negative way, where as in Amarcord the characters are still kind of disgusting in their day to day behavior, very Fellini and very earthy yet Fellini's hometown crowd in Amarcord have a charm to them, that to me at least, is completely missing in Roma. I like bocce's triad theory, but I see these two films being sister movies, one the more sleazy sister and the other one merely mischievous and sentimental.

There are a lot of similarities, and I also believe that "Amarcord" is more sentimental. The film is not autobiographical though, but is to a certain extent. "Amarcord" is also just dealing with one time period where "Roma" goes all over and is a mockumentary. "Amarcord" is one of my favorite Fellini films. Sadly Fellini's birth home was destroyed during WWII.

If you want to see what Rimini (Where Fellini filmed Amarcord) looks like today, go to:
http://students.washington.edu/esb21/ItalyVacationPictures/ItalyPictures.shtml

They are pictures I took while I was there. It was very surreal to see it after seeing the movie. One of my favorite places in Italy.

That film is available back home, but I don't think I'll be able to find it in Ridgecrest, Ca.
I sorry that I haven't been able to contribute anything to this forum for so long, but I haven't been able to get any of the last few movioes and I haven't seen any of them before.
Great pictures, 8 1/2.

Thanks, 2X no less Wink

Glad you liked the "I Vitelloni" pict. I did that one for fun and am glad to share it with other Fellini fans who get the joke. One of my favorite Fellini scenes.
