He was right about the herding of the nominees, though. I thought I was watching Queen for a Day for a second.

Somebody did. I remember years ago, one winner (in the Supporting Actress category, I think) who just said "Thank you," and left. Took everyone by surprise. It was refreshing. Anyone remember who this was?

I don't know how many of you are aware of the double murder of the husband and mother of a federal judge that took place here a few days ago--it was reported nationally. Well, the funeral for Judge Lefkow's husband was yesterday, and I just feel very sad. The funeral had to take place under security, as the judge's life was threatened several times before this happened. It makes me sick inside.

Just had to vent

I think Alfred Hitchcock did that the year he got an honorary award.

I have been following the story and it is terribly sad.

Marilyn,

Likewise. It was a smaller story in Montreal but it caught my eye. I feel terrible for the judge.

Was the succinct actor who accepted his Oscar with, "Thank you", Bob Hoskins, by any chance?

Marc,

Loved all the pics - Your store looks great! Just curious though - regarding the home decor - I was surprised to see so many religious/Catholic icons - Have you always been drawn to that artistically or do they have some spiritual significance to you? Just not the sort of decor I would have expected to see in your home

I'd be curious as to where that article came from. If it's simply a personal rant, I suppose he has a right to it. One man's opinion and all that.

Jude Law did fire his agent, but I haven't heard it had any connection to Chris Rock. In fact, chances are it was something far more personal. As you can tell I am a fan. I guess I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt.

This may also sound a little nutty but I don't mind product placemant. I much prefer it to some movies I've seen which use either a phoney product name or none at all. It pulls me right out of the story. It's actually more startling to see a bottle of beer that just says, "Beer" than a known product. Suddenly I'm reminded that this is just a movie.

Marilyn - the murder of the judge's family has been all over the news here. Every time I heard something about it, I wondered whether you knew about it. I find it horribly tragic.

My personal trainer friend used to work Mr. Lefkow and his daughter out. He went to the funeral. Their home was in my old neighborhood in the city. It's a real melting-pot neighborhood. Mr. Lefkow was a civil rights attorney, and they lived what they believed.

Marilyn,

That's what I've heard too. I was grateful that the story knocked out the Martha Stewart hoopla, at least for a time. I wish I could remember Dan Abram's, a legal correspondent, personal take on the murders. He reminded us that judges take a huge cut in pay when they go on the bench. And what a risk it can be, as well. I'll see if I can find the whole thing for you. It was quite moving.
