So am I. This site didn't even allow me to log in, never mind do the admin thing. I'm not sure why the laptop I'm currently using gets me in while other computers don't, but I'll take the opportunity to write my first post in possibly more than a decade.
I was shocked to hear about Marc. His words had such power; how could the rest of him be less indestructible? Now that I'm here, I'll probably browse through old topics and posts, and temporarily bring Marc, Gary, Marj, Wade, Nancy, and maybe a few more, back to life. You blink... 20 years pass... |

I'm in a state of shock since he's been so active on Facebook lately mostly posting photographs of people who he knew or influenced his life. Please send your condolences to Mirgun who's a wonderful person who is heartbroken.
(Heart attack, if you must know.)
Sorry to hear this. A shock, as deaths are when they come for people still active and connected. Though I am now creeping into the age demographic where it is easier to see there are no guarantees, no matter what the actuarial tables say. 73 always seems premature, but not at odds with his rock/punk sensibilities. (nor is his absence from wikipedia, where the only Marc Campbell is a baseball player) I thank him for the third eye website which he kept going for so long, and for introducing me to El Topo and other surreal fantasies. |

Lorne's back! Good news indeed. Computers are intelligent enough to do stupid things because humans program things. Nancy died about a decade ago, and bringing back Marc would also be a problem. I think Wade's gone too. I'd like to see Mirgun again, and Lady Wakasa. Marj is still out there as well, I hope. Face it, we're getting old. |

Marc has been posting all sorts of photographs of stars from the 60s and 70s, and I deliberately use the present tense since they're still appearing. I think he had an inordinate fondness for Francoise Hardy and Jane Birkin. |

Just popped in to see if there was anyone here to wish a Happy New Year to.
Lo & behoho it's all The Big Chill redux over here.
I didn't know membership here could expire, but I did know members could. I remember being shocked when ehle died (and he was younger than me). And of course members disappeared, sometimes in a huff, sometimes quietly, sometimes frequently.
I didn't know Marc that well, as he was somewhat phasing out of here not too long after I became active here. Personality-wise Marc reminded me a good deal of my brother. Condolences to Mirgun, she seemed real solid and great for Marc.
The Golden Age of Pirated Dvd's has long passed. And I haven't even had a working TV for probably 3 years now. So I rarely see movies anymore. I used to see about 40 new movies a year. But both Gromit and Hollywood have slumped.
Good to see chilly and Lorne cameos here. Hope Bill Weeden is doing well. He seems to enjoy himself. But I'm not on Facebook, etc. My long ago prediction was Joe would be the last one at 3rd Eye, but suddenly he got annoyed and bolted.
I always enjoyed my time here. Good discussions, knowledgeable people.
3rd Eye also got me writing mini-reviews and thinking about the films I saw in a more engaged fashion.
Hope 2025 is good to everyone. Do your best to stay alive while tuning out the Oligarchy as much as practicable. |

I'm been gradually losing my hearing, so I'm watching tv movies and shows with captions on. I wear my hearing aids to movies now, but I noticed Moana 2 worked better with them off. It seems like in recent years there are few movies in theaters I want to see. I may try Wicked, which details why it's not easy being green, but it's been divided into two parts. |

My parents, mid-80's, have hearing issues. But for some reason are unwilling to get hearing aids. So they crank the TV real loud and also use captioning. I think they came from a generation when hearing aids carried a stigma of being elderly. But in fact they are old and could use the aural assist. |

I'm resisting seeing Wicked, even though everyone I know is raving about it. I loved the play – saw it on Broadway and on tour here in Montreal – so after experiencing the performance as a gala live event, a film version doesn't motivate me as much.
The other issue is generating enough interest to see any movie. Like you and Gromit, I can't be bothered. Part of me misses the days when going to the movies was an EVENT! and a go-to plan for the weekend. No longer.
In theory, I'd still like to see Wicked. Realistically, it won't happen until it pops up on Netflix. |

Still prefer movies on the big screen, with an audience surrounding me. Was definitely worth it, for Wicked. Am again annoyed with Netflix for not letting the next Knives Out movie (i.e. Benoit Blanc mystery) have full distribution to moviehouses before they stream it. But that doesnt fit their business model, and why should they give a damn about theaters when the whole streaming concept is to keep people at home in their armchairs and sofas gobbling up eyeball feed and those annoying 15 second ads that pop in without the slightest regard for logical plot breaks? |
