"This day and age we're living in
Gives cause for apprehension,
With speed and new invention
And things like fourth dimension.
Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein's theory,
So we must get down to earth at times:
Relax, relieve the tension.
And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved,
The simple facts of life are such
They cannot be removed."

Continue

(Note: these verses from the original are not in the movie version but the continuation definitely is.)

As one who owns a couple hundred pounds of early-to-mid 20th century sheet music and collections, I'm often noticing how many classic songs are performed with the intro stripped off. Recusing myself. This should not require any hints.

I was surprised when Linda Ronstadt recorded "Someone to Watch over Me" with the introduction, but apparently that one usually keeps it.

This one I'd only heard once with the introduction. I believe at a wedding between science fiction fans. In fact, it took me a half hour to find a YouTube version with the introduction. (By Rudy Vallee. Naturally I immediately found two others, first by Rod Stewart and Queen Latifah (pretty bad), then by Natalie Cole).

The Rod Stewart track is definitely in a different mode than most of his hits.... sounded like he was turning into Billie Holiday in several places.

Yes the song would be great for a sci-fi wedding with the intro.

Racking my brain because somehow I feel I must remember this.

It came to me when I was staring at a small hill of beans, on my dinner plate.

In a 2008 film, a 1972 Gran Torino is prominently figured.

In what earlier film is a 1973 Gran Torino featured.

Both films have a character named Walter, each with a Polish surname. Both Walters are bigoted veterans of an Asian land war. Not necessarily the same one.

Extra credit for the fate of each Gran Torino.

Actually that was an easy question. Too many hints in the Q.

I didn't see it earlier.

Erm...

"....but it was definitely in the running" meaning definitely in the running for easiest trivia question. I was pointing out an odd set of parallels, not seriously posing a trivia question.

What is Sheb Wooley most notable for in the history of film. No fair looking it up.
