Thanks, Billy. I tell her you said so.

Bates Motel continues its winning streak. Beautifully produced, very entertaining, just tawdry enough to be an almost-guilty pleasure but classy enough to escape the "guilty" category. Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore are providing acting lessons in every scene.

Last night's "Castle" (its 100th episode) was a delight--a well-constructed takeoff on "Rear Window," with Castle in a wheelchair observing suspicious goings-on with his binoculars. As soon as it was over, I wanted to see it again.

This I gotta see; anything that relates to RW is a must for me.

DRAT. I almost watched it, but had already watched Bones (not their most inspired episode). (if I plan to watch Castle, then I skip Bones....the two shows are too similar)

As Carro may recall, "Person of Interest" also had a RW tribute, last season.

"Castle" followed the original much more closely--for good reason, it turned out.

How can you consider "Bones" and "Castle" that similar? They both follow the formula, but are very different, IMO. (Hudgins' cracking of the hot-sauce formula was rather fun.)

I'm not sure what I mean...wow, that's an auspicious start to what was planned as a thoughtful and carefully reasoned reply to your question, Carro.

Hmmm. Somehow the pairing of Bones and Booth has enough points of similarity with Rick and Kate, that I find it a bit much to watch both in one evening. I'm not saying the shows aren't distinct in many ways (and I did like the grandma's hot sauce quest, btw), just that I'd rather they were on different days.

(I know...there's this magical device called a DVR and I can buy one at a nearby Radio Shack or Best Buy....or there's that interwebbing thingie that now comes into your home for a small monthly fee....)

I see what you mean, and it's true, they'd probably work better on different nights. But the relationships between the protagonists are different enough to set them apart (I love the way Booth tolerates Bones' literal mind and humor deficit). And of course, I first saw both Boreanaz and Fillion on "Buffy"--so I have my subjective loyalties.

Here it is...

Urgh. You may have to cut/paste this URL, or go to the main page, type in Castle, and then pick the episode "The Lives of Others."

Watched that Castle. Wonderful. I was very dubious for the first half. It seemed like less an homage than a ripoff, with Beckett acting way out of character. But all was resolved and ultimately believable. A terrific episode.

Are you referring to this weeks Castle? If so, that is definitely On Demand.

You're absolutely right. I watched it on Hulu but will watch it again on the "big" screen.
