Shouldn't that be Messrs. Coen? Very Happy

Nope. Not when you take into account the different spellings. Either way, Joe is exactly right.

What different spelling? I didn't think he was referring to you. Smile And Messrs. Coen is the correct way to write it. Messrs. is used when you are talking about more than one man. It's the equivalent of, " lover of the Coen men."

Of course Joe won't admit to a mistake, but he's wrong. If the Mr. is referring to the lover then he has to pluralize Coen.

When I am wrong, I am happy to be corrected. Some people aren't.

"Mr. Coen-lover" -- wouldn't the Mister refer to the person, singular, who is a lover of the Coens, i.e. a mister who is "Coen-lover" ? If you put it differently, "lover of Messrs. Coen," then the plural form would make more sense. I think Joe is correct this time.

Then obviously he should have said Mr. Coen Bros. lover, otherwise it only means one Coen and I'm sure one of the brothers would feel slighted. Shocked

I think of the en masse, as either Joelethan, or Roderick.

I thought White Material was mediocre to bad.
Even though Isabelle Huppert does create a fairly convincing central character. The structure of the film, the flashbacks and the son going Travis Bickle, seemed straight out of the 70's. As does the colonial theme. The French never get tired of making films about the end of colonialism. They seem to really miss it.

Gary - This time I'm wrong. I didn't realized he was referring to the Coen Brothers.

Wish they would get tired of it. The whole Algeria angle was for me the most confusing part of "Cache."

Finally saw 127 Hours. Good film, an experiment that mostly succeeds, and for me kind of worked as an existential drama where your whole life is kind of like being stuck in a crack in the earth, pinned down by a rock, and at what point do you decide you don't have to hold onto everything that defines you -- at what point, do you (metaphorically, I hope) decide to cut off part of a limb in order to "move on" ?

"Mr. Coens Lover" would sound awkward. The movies are a Coen project, so "Mr. Coen Lover" is fine.

Uh, you do realize you're the only person who had a problem with it in the first place?

I could be wrong, but I think Edward Albee could get at least one decent play out of Gary and Joe being trapped in an elevator together.
