We had talked before about doing them in April or such when everyone would have a chance to see more/most of the films, instead of adhering to the marketing gimmick schedule of the Oscars.
So a full Blanche at a later date is possible.
Preferable, I think, to the usual Feb. date. |

I had thought we were delaying The Blanches ntil maybe April to give people who rely on home vieo for our access to non-Cineplex style entertainment a fair opportuinty to see the relevant films. |

I think you're all worrying a bit much. Lorne is often slow to respond to emails or pm's, just because of the heavy responsibilities in his life. I have difficulty believing, considering his connection to the site and the fact that he has a wife, that if something serious had happened, we wouldn't have gotten at least a short post from her if not him about it. I think we should give it a little more time before we get worried. He could be out of town, wrapped up in work or family life, a lot of things.
Which is not to say I'm unconcerned, just that this isn't completely out of pattern for him. I always get the feeling his life is pretty overwhelmed these days. |

Hey there!
My psychic brother, Joe, nailed it - lots and lots of stuff on my plate, but, thankfully, nothing bad. Just had to take care of a small job in Egypt, give things a kick-start over there, then make sure the work continued in my absence. Nothing you guys would be interested in.
Seriously, nothing more complicated than work, a new writing gig, and the general malaise that comes when pressure clashes with laziness. Billy - I did get your email (but didn't get Gary's PM) and feel good that my presence was missed. Thank you, sincerely!
I apologize for not starting The Blanches and really do feel guilty about neglecting something you all like and I get a charge out of. I realized time was ticking and our traditional pre-Oscar Blanche-ing was looking more and more impossible. Not sure what the best approach is right now. Gromit has a point that we're not bound by any timetable other than our own, and that waiting until Spring lets more of us actually see last year's films. My concern is that 2010 will appear pretty rusty three months into the new year.
Of course, it's not like we have much of a choice at this point. It's either a late Blanche or a truncated slightly-late Blanche. The issue on my end is time. I'm just trying to find enough of it to honour Blanche with the requisite pomp. Maybe Marc's idea is good - just the four acting awards, director and picture.

Ambient noise is so important. I want the Foley artists to be honored! Did you HEAR the teacups clinking in The King's Speech? It was like I was THERE!
No, Marc's idea sounds great, has my vote. |

I'm just getting a regular paycheck again. Which means I'm only now getting a chance to catch up with a lot of movies. And a lot of them are already gone until their DVD release. I haven't participated much at all in the Blanches and had wanted to participate more this year. So Spring sounds better to me.
Of course, the Oscars will be abysmal this year, without us to set the voting trends first. But how is that our problem? They've been riding on our coattails for too long as it is. |
