Sounds good.
I've never seen either.
Lang is always interesting.
Any idea who has the rights to these (whose logo popped up to start/finish)?
Were these restored prints, heralding a dvd release, or old scratchy copies?
Edit: Now I see that City ... Sleeps was released on dvd last October.

Secret Beyond the Door... was a restoration, and a beautiful one. The logo was Universal-International. While the City Sleeps (not "The City Never Sleeps") was a scratchy print, from RKO Radio.
Thinking of going to see Rancho Notorious later in the week. It's likewise unavailable from Netflix. Fury is coming up at the Film Forum, but that's available, so I'll rent it. |

Great to hear on Secret. So that should probably be coming out, or is recently out.
I think Fury would benefit greatly from being on the big screen. Especially the mob scenes.
I really like the intensity of Fury.
And Spencer Tracy in an unexpected turn.
Have you seen Fury before?
Film Forum. That's a medium-sized big screen?
Wow, that's a great Lang series they're running.

I've seen a handful of them: Fury, Ministry of Fear (in a bootleg print), Human Desire (not that great), Scarlet Street, House by the River.
Would love to see Hangmen, Rancho, and basically all the rest. Not sure why Lang's American output is poorly distributed. Hopefully a box set is on the way, or this marks the start of lots of releases. |

Getting Fury from Netflix today, so will probably skip the Film Forum screening and save over $20. If it seems to lack power, may take the trip though by that time it will probably have sold out. There is only one screening of the film for some reason and they're pre-selling the tickets. Oh, well. Will still probably go see Rancho and Clash and the double feature of You and Me and You Only Live Twice. I'm sort of hooked. Can stream The Woman in the Window and M from Netflix. Seen and loved them both. Will be seeing them again soon. I'm a reborn Langian. |

Saw Date Night on dvd -- kind of a lightweight comedy in the "suburbanites lost in the big bad city" genre, some good jokes, many on the theme of "you stole someone's [restaurant] reservation??!" and the writing supported by the comedy chops of Carell and Fey. About 90 minutes of silliness that goes well with a bowl of popcorn and then evaporates in a few hours. A brief scene with Mila (I'm Not Obsessed With Her) Kunis, all too brief.
As a new Kindle owner, I did enjoy the moment when Carell, who has obtained the maguffin (a flashdrive) and is in a taxi trying to find out what's on it -- he asks if the driver has anything with which he can read it -- the driver has only a Kindle, open to a page of some book of chick-lit, answers Carell's look with "well, it made ME cry." |

Exit Through the Gift Shop is great. The first half joyous, the second half depressing/ironic. But a great experience. I'd recommend it to everyone. |

Bart and Joe, you've just given me two more films to add to my queue. Actually, I think I already have Exit through the Gift Shop in my 'Save' section. Date Night is the kind of movie I usually save for premium stations, especially since I have such a good deal, but now I think I have to move it up.
Thanks Guys! |

I hope the art in the first section brings a smile to your face. It did mine. The movie has just made my whole day brighter, actually. |

Joe, it's going to take some time before I see it. Netflix has it in its saved section. I also need to catch up on all of the award nominated movies.
I'm sick of all of the snow mounds - actually ice mounds. I hope to see The King's Speech and Black Swan next week. Please tell the heavens to stop snowing. Crossing the GW bridge to get to the theater with my "friend" is difficult in the snow. But here's some news, I ought to be able to see The Social Network next week.
And one wonders why we aren't doing the Blanches. At least Melody does. |

You can watch it online, if you're the sort of person who doesn't mind watching movies on their computers. |

On the subject, here's a quite reliable source for free TV (it was just closed by the Nation Security Agency or some such thing, by taking away there domain name or something. They signed up with a domain that is not in the USA.

Check it out. |

I could. You're right. You're also right in that if I can, I prefer to watch films on TV or in a theater.
Not to worry, Billy. I know you like your puzzles. Sneaky ole me. |
