Gotta rout for the Roughriders, but I wouldn't be upset if the Alouettes won.

Eat Pray Love - if there had more loving and less praying perhaps it would have been less unwatcheable.

Really disliked this film

This seems to be a very common refrain. I have yet to talk to anyone who remotely liked it.

Love and other Drugs

Entertaining romantic comedy. Jake Gyllenhaal has a wonderful kinetic energy and magnetism that is hard to resist, but Anne Hathaway is truly fine as the cynical wounded soul with the terrible disease. The film gets a little lost in what its purpose is - comedy or drama. There is a very strong and grounding scene with real parkinson's survivors - and there is far more sex in it than I was expecting. Not a bad thing, just a little jarring.

I give it a B-.

Tangled ---- Disney's 50th (and final fairy tale-based) animated feature weathers initial snarls to winningly weave the Rapunzel tale into an old-school-meets-Digital-Age treatise on the eternal clash between filial duty and leaving the nest. Features a lovely vocal performance by Mandy Moore as the follicle-rich heroine, bravura work from Donna Murphy's manipulative witch/foster mom, a riotous vintage-Disney character in trail-sniffing horse Maximus, and breathtaking 3D effects. Overall, made my heart swell and my scalp tingle.

Trish, that is so cool -- my only real down note was that there wasn't a tot or teen accompanying me -- departing parents and kids at the El Capitan were in major bubbly mode, and talking to each other about it. Very sweet.

Rabbit Hole finds playwright David Lindsay-Abaire improving his Pulitzer-winning study of a couple barely surviving their son's death, opening up the property to create a delicately honest, ineffably touching mood piece. Courtesy of director John Cameron Mitchell, his peerless cast fronted by the translucent Nicole Kidman and a never-better Aaron Eckhart, this remarkably restrained, subtly resonant film sets a new gold standard for stage-to-screen adaptations.

I'm all for Natalie Portman getting her kit off, but she's got to pick better material than No Strings Attached.

The film also has Olivia Thirlby, who absolutely blew me away in Si J'Etais Toi, as David Duchovny's daughter. Probably not the best pick for her, either.

I saw Going the distance on my flight over and was pleasantly surprised. It is rom com (new term I see) but with a hinge of serious. The buddies were very funny and the chemistry between Drew and Justin is (for obvious reasons) very good. Justin Long has really good comedic timing. Very fun. I suppose the fact that I was on a long (10+) hours should be noted, as it may have influenced my viewing.

Thumbs up for me.
