You asked about Mr. Nobody before but I wasn't sure if you were kidding about the language. It stars Jared Leto in a plot-heavy sci-fi story about the choices we make in life, their consequences and, naturally, string theory. And yes, it is 100% english.

I really know/knew nothing about it, but it looked promising. And I couldn't tell you what language a person named Jared Leto speaks.

I was going to pick up the Dvd, but since it's so new the English subs will most likely be gibberish (as in translated from the Chinese translation). If it was in Portuguese, I was going to wait til next year when I could get it with standard English subs.

Thanks. Now I'll give it a fling.
I'm still reading an Einstein bio, so I have been pondering some relatively relevant sci-fact these days.

I have a theory that Hot Tub Time Machine would be quite amusing with French dubbing.

when Affleck puts on a cop uniform as a disguise, for the Fenway caper, he is noticeably unshaven, well past a 5 o'clock shadow. Didn't look quite right.

I reacted the same way as you bartist to that scene.

Spoiler. The biggest problem I had with the film is: why didn't the FBI, from the moment they suspected Affleck and his gang were the bank robbers, keep them under constant surveillance? The FBI were the most incompetent collection law enforcers since the Keystone Kops. And Affleck has a relationship with the star witness and the FBI didn't know about it! Absurd. The bad guys continue to rob banks and kill people long after the FBI knew who they were. Made no sense. End spoiler.

Jon Hamm does not cut it as a tough guy.

SPOILERAMA

I agree you have to fill holes for the boys, never a good thing -- my reading was that Ben & Co. know every cranny of the Charlestown district so well that they are always eluding surveillance....which is why it takes so long for the feds to figure out Ben's trysts with the witness. Ben & Co. keep robbing because that's what they do and they like the challenge of getting away with something and having the feds know it.

Just read Manola Dargis review of I'm Still Here

Of all the reviews I've read she had the most insight. Roger Ebert, sweet man that he his, bought the reality of the whole thing........said he'd be pissed if it was a hoax.......

Ben Affleck's The Town has its good moments such as the bank heists and car chases, but in between it is hokum.

Ghulam, I'll take your review of The Town as the one I trust. Some others, in the media have claimed that it was a very good movie and Affleck took the first steps toward director greatness, (or some such nonsense). It just stretched my suspension of disbelief past its breaking point.

Hokum is a word that I can easily associate with big Ben.

Gone Baby Gone was an excellent film. It's too easy to knock Affleck because of some fairly bad acting and the Bennifer thing. I used to hate the very sound of his name, but recently he has begun to establish himself as an intelligent, thoughtful artist who has gotten his life back on track after an out-of-control relationship with alcohol. I give him props. Haven't seen The Town, but I'm keeping an open mind since I often disagree with others on this forum.

He was decent as a supporting actor in that movie I saw a couple of years ago and can't remember the name.

The congressman in State of Play -- yes, he was decent.

LOL. See, here I disagree again. I thought Affleck was just as terrible in State of Play as everyone else except Russell Crowe was, including the usually fine Helen Mirren, who was awful. Hated the flick.

Oh god, I'd forgotten Mirren in that....yeah, not her best work.

I agree. It was a ridiculous role and Mirren seemed to have nothing happening. Crowe carried the whole film. I liked it.

Affleck was fine in Changing Lanes.
