| We used to get Benny Hill regularly on the local PBS station. I don't remember any topless women so I guess they got cut out. |

Yes, it did sort of disappear without a trace, as is the fate of so many teeny films nowadays. Still, there could be some DiViDends down the road. I do hope so, since it seemed to me to be Nicole Holofcener's best film to date, with the Oliver Platt role as complex and fully formed a male character as she's yet written, Rebecca Hall and Amanda Peet hardly less incisive, but I found it a true ensemble film. And even so, Nicole's alter-ego Catherine couldn't have been Keener.
And what about the amazing Ann Guilbert (of The Dick Van Dyke Show) as the harridan next door? IMO she was the equal of anyone else in the cast. Lois Smith weren't no slouch either. But yes, this is Holofcener's masterpiece so far. She's a devilishly talented woman. |

I seem to be seeing Catherine Kenner everywhere. Maybe she is EVERYWOMAN. As Harper Lee laughing with Truman in Capote. As a bit presence in Adaptation. Which is to say I've been seeing Chris Cooper everywhere too. As the detective in Capote. As the police officer father in Remember Me. And most winningly as the orchid thief in Adaptation.
Now I want to pair these two up in a film.......actually interacting with each other.
PS......Please Give is a good one. Alot of subtle stuff going on in that one. |

| I saw a promo for Devil and was halfway intrigued. Plus it's got Caroline Dhavernas, and I'd pay money just to se her again - loved her in Wonderfalls. But my money's on Jenny O'Hara for the titular role. I may have to catch that one, MNS phobia be damned. |

| You could always watch Hollywoodland or Breachif you want to see Caroline Dhavernas again. She's also in Passchendaele and has a fair number of other film credits, mostly as a supporting actress. |

I've seen Hollywoodland and totally missed her; and have passed Breach over once or twice in favor of something else, but I will not again.
Thanks for the tip on Passchendaele, which I have not heard of heretofore, as I like Paul Gross too. (And yeah, I've seen Slings and Arrows.) |

Passchendaele has some very good things and some very bad things. It's almost as if two different people made the movie. Unfortunately I found the finale dreadfully bad. I won't go into details but it just sunk the movie.
I like Paul Gross too, but he has to cut out the schlock or just stick to acting. |

| I know, I saw the mixed reviews, and thanks for the personal take on the flick. I've seen lots of bad movies and enjoyed some of them, even knowing just how bad they were; so if I come across Passchendaele, I'll give it a run. |

| It really could have been a very good movie, grace. That's what was so disappointing. Much more of the movie is very good than very bad, but it doesn't take a lot of very bad to ruin a movie. |
