Finally I can break the SATC thread by stating that I saw a Current Film this evening, and a very good one with a better-than-very-good leading performance. The actor is Michael Douglas and the movie is Solitary Man, not to be confused with A Serious Man or A Single Man. Solitary Man concerns a mini-Madoff named Ben Kellman, who virtually defines the word creepazoid yet who becomes worthy of our concern in the hands of the masterful Douglas. MD has a very uneven career; he's never awful but is often mediocre. When he's on point, however, he can be brilliant--Wonder Boys, Wall Street, Falling Down, Romancing the Stone (yes, Romancing the Stone), and now Solitary Man.
This character does things which made me want to look away from the screen in utter embarrassment, and Douglas never once flinched from showing all the warts, even when there was nothing else except warts to show. He's backed up by a wonderful supporting cast including Mary-Louise Parker, Jenna Fischer, and Jesse Eisenberg. It's a terrific movie, and coupled with the forthcoming Wall Street sequel, could presage awards for Michael Douglas this year. |

Thank you, Billy.........I'm ready for a good current film. Hope it comes here soon. It and Please Give. Harry Brown is here. ?
Quote: I am assuming, therefore, that you consider Lesbianism "nutty." This is strange, and maybe it's not what you mean, but I'm assuming that's what Betsy is getting at. Right, Betsy?
Actually, no.......it's Gary's "nutty" definition.......that I equate with his negative opinion of Mia Farrow. He does not like women who do not fawn over men.........maybe.........
I liked Miranda's relationship with Steve. He brought her down to earth. And I remember laughing when she said she was waiting for her copy of The Tattler in the mail. She loved gossip rags. |

I do too. I'm not a fan of bitter, angry, man hating women. |

I'll have you know I've been reading The Stranger since it first started publication. Back then, Dan Savage insisted all advice seekers open with the salutation "Hey, Faggot." |

| Wow, Seattle's alternative newspaper mocks older women for liking sex and all women for getting older. Very progressive. |

Joe--This is a total misreading of the article, which had me laughing out loud so loudly that my wife asked me from the other room, "What's so funny?" "Charlotte Goldsteinjewjewsomethingblatt," that's part of it. "Abu Dhabi is crawling with Muslim women—and not one of them is dressed like a super-liberated diamond-encrusted fucking clown!!!" That's also part of it. Thanks, Marc. |

Here's a must: links to the nine worst reviews of SATC2. It's even got its own page now, devoted to its new status as one of the worst movies ever made. Razzies await, make no mistake. |

Me, too.
Please do not refer to Mia Farrow as a nut job again......I respect her. How about referencing these nut jobs next time: Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears.........(aren't there any 60 yr. old nut jobs left?) |

Who and what else do you respect that we can't discuss openly? |

Great question. Thank you. Last time I looked, a forum like this was a place where differing opinions could be espoused without censorship. Betsy, this is directed to you. |

The much praised Swedish murder mystery saga The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo turns out to be one of the worst movies I have seen recently. Unbelievable, trite and predictable.

Ghulam,
As I said in my review of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, it would have made a decent 90 minute B-movie. |
