Yambu, you give me cause to reconsider Jamie Foxx's performance because I admit I thought he was terrible at portraying his character. Then again, I've never hung out with a guy like that, so what do I know?
I was, however, wowed by Robert Downey, Jr., as always, and am sorry I overlooked this film initially because I thought it would be another cliched movie about white guy saves homeless guy.
Also, for True Blood fans, Nelsan Ellis has a small-but-wonderful role as the shelter director. |

One of the few remaining bastions of hippiedom in Austin is called Eeyore's Birthday Party, and this year marks the 47th annual celebration, featuring hippie food, music, dancing, lots of kids, lots of costumes -- but the best part is the drum circle, where anybody with a drum or piece of tin and a stick can sit in and drum all day and night. You would love it. Last Saturday in April.

The Austrian movie Revanche was nominated for an Oscar. It is a revenge movie with interesting twists and turns. The story is fascinating. Masterly direction. One of the better movies I have seen in the past several months. Thanks Billy.

| Sorry to all the Public Enemies lovers in here, but -- after an hour and a half, with still another hour to go, I had to turn it off. Placed it in its envelope and mailed it back to Netflix the next day. Depp or Cotillard or Bates couldn't even save this for me. I didn't notice anything particularly exciting about Mann's direction and don't even get me started on the storyline. How many gangster movies must we see? For me, Bonnie & Clyde is tops and I'd rather watch that B-movie gangster flick with Angie Dickenson than this over-stylized to the point of distraction borefest. |

And The Godfather, Scarface (the remake), and the current A Prophet for three more.
But I totally agree with Wade about Public Enemies. |

| Public Enemies is a bit long. And although it's not shot in 3D, 2D, it's still a film that ought to be seen in a theater. At least on a first viewing. And I know Billy did, so here is where we sadly must part company. |

| I hear what y'all are saying, but I wasn't really lumping in Mobs, Drug Czars and such. Mostly the gangsters of yore, i.e., bankrobbers and what-nots. I've never seen The Untouchables and hear that that was a pretty good one about Capone and Ness. Anyhow, PE just didn't move me. |
