I can't speak for Streep but Baldwin's admitted to using a body double. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'll take a hirsute Baldwin any day -- alas, my friend wasn't given that screener. . .

Glad I stook with An Education -- a very uneven film, although worth seeing. Blanche alert -- Duffy's song during end credits.

Streep's undressed bod never gets seen beyond some shoulder and leg shots. The only shot that might have used a body double for Alec is -- well, Spoiler-white's not working for some reason, so let's just say it's all him, barring one critical close-up.

bullshit. Mulligan has not been oversold. Nine has been oversold. Carey is getting much deserved recognition for a beautifully nuanced performance. Yes, she has star quality and hopefully she'll use it wisely.


You misunderstood me. I think Mulligan deserves the praise she's gotten. I think the movie is slightly less than great and it's riding Mulligan's coattails.

Keep omitting how much I enjoyed Emma Thompson's starchiness in An Education. Got quite the yok from A.O. Scott's observation that her headmistress was preparation for the inevitable Margaret Thatcher biopic.

That is funny -- and you know what? Her cameo somehow elevated the whole damn picture for me. Sally Hawkin's mere minute or two, too.

It certainly grabbed the screen, and the brevity of same figured into the revised assessment the second time I saw it, as previously noted. Am unrepentantly Emmaphilic and Sallyocious, and now thinking maybe they should do a picture where they appear in scenes tewgither.

Okay, this film could falter in the end, but I'm 3/4's way through it. What is it about my Drew Drew that keeps me grinning non-stop? Supphose Cast is a blast and please oh please oh please don't let anything ruin this. It's so refreshing seeing a MOVIE that isn't screaming anything but like me, or have a good time, not LOVE ME.
