I saw Horton Hears a Who! in the theatre. I enjoyed it too.

That, I assume, is Jason's twin.

FInally watched A Christmas Story, which tells how Ralph "One-Eye" Parker began his career of crime.

'bout fuckin' time. Hope you enjoyed it!

It's amazing how you can see thousands of films and have these little gaps. I'd been putting it off because the DVD cover made Ralphie look like a dweeb and it looked too cute for words. Well, Ralphie is a dweeb, and it does get cute, but it's also pretty funny. I liked the way the teacher does a slow turn a couple of times to see what the class has done now. I appreciated the description of the tastes of various kinds of soap so we know what to wash Marc's mouth out with.

I thought the narration laid on the nostalgia pretty thick (although that was part of the joke). Some of the stories it's based on ran in Playboy and get pretty subversive, like the scene with the scary Santa and his elves.

A Christmas Story is a great movie, and should have been an "instant classic," but (I think because it was directed by the not-in-fashion Porky's director Bob Clark) was ripped to shreds by many critics and took years and years (and release on DVD) to achieve the status it immediately gained with me on opening day 1983.

Radio fans of Jean Shepard in the '60's are familiar with every single character in Christmas Story, including Ralphie, who is, more or less, Jean himself. He's from Gary, Indiana, and he created that town for us listeners over the years.

I liked Shepard whenever I heard him. I read a couple of things he wrote and he overwrites. He talked much better.

I enjoyed reading In God We Trust. All Others Pay Cash. Again, all the regulars are there - Flick, Schwartz, Farkus, the teacher Miss Shields...

I know I'm late in the game but I just watched Bruno and I'm so glad I did, I have the flu and I was miserable, in bed. This movie made me feel better from the very first scene.I couldn't stop laughing. When Bruno and Lutz are bondage locked together and can't find the key, they call for help. The looks on the faces of the hotel staff was wild disbelief. Later he realizes that most famous people are straight so he tries to become a straight man. He hires a dominitrix and she beats the hell out of him. The reactions of the palm reader, Ron Paul, Karate teacher we're priceless.
The last scene he decides to do a charity song with celebrities. It was just as bad as the real ones I've seen. Very funny
Even though I had refused to see Borat, I gave in and saw it.which also made me laugh
I remember him from Da Ali G show, from a few years ago, which I used to watch on HBO or BBCA ?..
I don't know anyone else other than Baron Cohen who does this type of comedy .I really believe he's very intelligent. He exposes ignorance and prejudice. Laughing is great medicine

It's the best!

I used to love the Ali G show. I wish I felt the same about the movies. But I'm glad they made you feel better, Mirgun.

Jennifer Lynch's Surveillance is one of the most twisted films I've seen in a long time. She's David's daughter and she has inherited some of his wild darkness. I hope some of you take a chance with this film and get back to me. I'm still digesting it. Will post more soon.
