I'm so humbled that you both loved Turkey.It IS a beautiful ,mysterious country with a lot of conflicting ideas. (which keeps it interesting)
Tomorrow at 6:00, at the turkish film festival they will be showing Pandora's Box. I heard that it's "good" whatever that means, but I'll check it out.
Fatih Akin's Head On is one of my favorite movies. Did you see "The edge of Heaven"? I recommend it . If you're into music of any kind, you should also see his " Crossing the Bridge:The Sound of Istanbul" and witness Turkish rap by some Islamic fundamentalists with a cool chick with tattoos.
There is another Turkish film maker, not known in Us as much, but he 's very highly regarded in Europe. he lives in Rome, and he's a childhood friend of mine. Ferzan Ozpetek. He made "Hamam" and Facing Windows, which I love. |
