Taking Woodstock sounds mild and uninvolving. Tetro sounds like one of Coppola's best. Hmmm.

Syd......haven't found your review yet but I did find Inla's:

It's right here:

We do have a search function at the top of the page. Takes a little practice to use. Look up "julia" author Syd, by posts.

I know.......I've been practicing unsuccessfully with that search function. It was so nice of you to make it easy for me.....

By the way Julia Child was 6'2". Meryl Streep is 5'6 but grew eight inches to play the part because she's an actress, and convinces us she's taller than Stanley Tucci.

And she wore heels in the movie. The sight of her even taller sister walking towards her from the train provoked laughter in the audience......

I think the contrasts between the Julieas made for a film with more depth. If we can get Inla's review I think he will make that clear. Amy Adams reminded me of Miranda in Sex and the City. I felt sorry for her.

Caught Inglourious Basterds again tonight, this time with Earl. It more than holds up on second viewing.

But I'm curious if anyone can figure out why the "Little Man" is in the truck with Aldo when the latter is picked up at the premiere. And what hapens to the other Basterds who aren't at the screening?

You and me both, Betsy. And I still have no idea when my situation is going to change. Notice I didn't say, if. I'm forever an optimist.

I don't know why I even look into this forum anymore, since I've seen a total of two (2) movies this year. Still haven't even made it to Harry Potter. But at least this forum has made me very eager to see "The Hurt Locker" and "District 9," which I probably would have shrugged off otherwise.

I'm wondering if people who've seen IB can tell me why Landa let's Shosanna go in the opening scene. He's got a pretty good aim on her, and it's unlikely she could have really gotten so far so quickly as to be out of his range. Also, are we to assume he recognizes her in Paris? It seems odd he would offer her that milk unless he did, but then why does he never follow up on this? Does he simply see it as low priority? Does he figure he'll have his eye on her all the time and so doesn't have to move immediately? Or is this part of his larger plan to sell out the Nazis when he has assured himself of a future, and saftey, with the war's end?

Joe--This is just me, but without needing to post spoiler alerts, I think you're giving Landa just a bit too much credit for 1) marksmanship and 2) psychic ability. He's sharp, but not as sharp as all that in either case. And Shosanna is a very good runner, too, so don't underestimate her while you're at it.

Interesting that her name is spelled "Shosanna" in the opening credits and later on in the subtitles, but when Landa writes it out he spells it phonetically--"Shoshanna," with the extra "h." Interesting, believable inconsistency, but one wonders whether it was an error.

Yes, it was great seeing Inglourious Basterds with Joe last night. Count me among the movie's many fans. I'll try to write a longer review later. Tarantino takes a long time in between projects, but if he can come up wiith work of this quality, then it's worth the wait.

Billy,

What do you think is going on in that restaurant scene, then? Why offer/force on her her the milk? And why the interrogation-like conversation which has little bearing on the new premiere venue for Nation's Pride?

It was as good to see Earl again as it was to catch Tarentino's flick a second time. By the way, Earl learned in one night how to handle chopsticks like a master.
