The White House Correspondents' dinner was held this weekend and if you'd like, you can see President Obama's knock-out speech. He's awesome!
Wanda Sykes was just hysterical, too...wish I'd been there! |

Obama was terrific, but the best single line was from Sykes, who points out that as long as Barack continues to do well, it's "He's the first black president!" but if he screws it up, that'll change to "What's up with the half-white guy?" |

Sykes also had the most outrageous moment, where she accused Rush Limbaugh of treason and possibly a part in 9/11. All in the name of humor, of course, but edgy enough to be slightly uncomfortable...in a very, very good way. |

Sykes was, no doubt, the better of the two speeches - but being a professional comedian, she did have an edge. Her Palin "pulling out early" line put me away, but the riffs on Limbaugh by both Obama and Sykes were superb. Did you notice Steele laughing, probably unaware that the cameras captured his mirth?
I love moments like that, when we see the President let down his hair and the press enjoying the camaraderie. Did you also notice they showed Olbermann laughing but Hannity was nowhere to be found? |

Robert Gibbs busted 2 reporters at the WH Press Briefing today, for not silencing their cell phones. Great stuff. |

Quote: A source tells The Associated Press that President Barack Obama is considering California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno and more than five other people as nominees for the Supreme Court.
An official familiar with Obama's decision-making said others include Solicitor General Elena Kagan, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and U.S. Appeals Court judges Sonia Sotomayor and Diane Pamela Wood—people who have been mentioned frequently as potential candidates.
The official said there were other people under consideration. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because no names have been publicly revealed by the White House. |

Quote: ...If this analysis is right, then [Cheney] is wrong to say that the new president is dismantling the Bush approach to terrorism. President Obama has not changed much of substance from the late Bush practices, and the changes he has made, including changes in presentation, are designed to fortify the bulk of the Bush program for the long-run. Viewed this way, President Obama is in the process of strengthening the presidency to fight terrorism.

Gee......It's so wonderful that we can now bring our concealed weapons into the national parks.......You know there are bears there.
I think we should begin issuing weapons to 4th graders and require classes on safe gun use. Let's arm everyone! |

Now, see -- that's funny! Well, it would be if it weren't true. Or almost true. |

Obama kills two interest group birds with one Supreme Court Nominee stone...
And shouldn't we really change this forum's name to "Politics" or something? |
