I'm sorry as well, Marc. One thing you do know, however, is that what you did ... was a huge success.

Billy, thanks for the explanation. And Whiskey, I'm actually on LinkedIn, even if I hardly ever go there. I have written recommendations for some friends. Even some I've actually worked with!

From Krugman's blog:

From Jonathan Landay at McClatchy, one of the few reporters to get the story right during the march to war:

The Bush administration put relentless pressure on interrogators to use harsh methods on detainees in part to find evidence of cooperation between al Qaida and the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s regime, according to a former senior U.S. intelligence official and a former Army psychiatrist.

Such information would’ve provided a foundation for one of former President George W. Bush’s main arguments for invading Iraq in 2003. No evidence has ever been found of operational ties between Osama bin Laden’s terrorist network and Saddam’s regime.

The use of abusive interrogation — widely considered torture — as part of Bush’s quest for a rationale to invade Iraq came to light as the Senate issued a major report tracing the origin of the abuses and President Barack Obama opened the door to prosecuting former U.S. officials for approving them.

Let’s say this slowly: the Bush administration wanted to use 9/11 as a pretext to invade Iraq, even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. So it tortured people to make them confess to the nonexistent link.

There’s a word for this: it’s evil.

Heard Landay on Olbermann's Wednesday night show. Shocking, though not overly surprising.

Wasn't it common knowledge that Osama was an enemy of Saddam?

Not hard to believe. Cheney wants to keep the deep dark evil churning. And he's probably not even making money from it anymore--just having fun.

Today's Krugman column argues for an investigation of both the torture and the rush to war.

You can't tell the players without a scorecard, and you can't talk torture without a Torture Timeline. Now you can keep things straight when poking holes in right wingers' arguements.

Frank Rich writes his torture column in Sunday's NYTimes, with this ultimate zinger:

"President Obama can talk all he wants about not looking back, but this grotesque past is bigger than even he is."

I hope Obama reads this and does some long, hard thinking.

Good op-ed piece by Nicholas Kristof on torture and a Truth Commission in today's NY Times.

Cell phone? Phooey!

No Phooey, Gary..........I got rid of my land line and went to cell only. I'm saving $20 a month. I don't like to talk on the phone either.

As to Facebook.......I don't want to reconnect with high school people. I hated high school. I don't want to reconnect with ex-husbands or ex-friends or ex-boyfriends. There might be a few people I would enjoy reconnecting with.......but I have trouble making time for the few friends and family I do have. I'm an introvert. I like solitude. I like reading more than surfing the net.

That makes 59. Franken will make 60 so now the Republicans are really going to pull out the stops to slow down the inevitable.

The conservative commentators have uncovered some damning evidence of Obama's lack of love of country and man of the people. The mustard he requested on his hamburger was Dijon.

A revelation like that could sway a number of voters. Maybe as high as double figures.

These guys are desperate beyond belief!

The current slate of presidential hopefuls for the Republicans is made up of Palin, Romney, Huckabee et al. Good luck GOP, you will certainly need it...in spades.
