Warning! Dramatic Spoilers Ahead!!!

"One may apply for the duty drawback with respect to imported goods where such goods, which are subsequently exported, were:

further processed; or
displayed or demonstrated in Canada; or
used for development or production in Canada of goods for subsequent export ; or
exported without having been used in Canada for any purpose other than for (a), (b) or (c).

What this entails is that your business may apply for the recovery of customs duties, anti-dumping and countervailing duties or excise taxes, other than the Goods and Services Tax, which were paid at the time of importation.

To date, fuel and plant equipment that are consumed or expended in the manufacture of other goods which are then exported from Canada are ineligible for duty drawbacks.

The regulations relating to the concept of “equivalence” may also lead to confusion for financial managers today. As a result of the complexities, many businesses may be unaware of the potential for duty drawbacks. Generally, the term equivalence is applied where both imported and domestic goods of the same class are used interchangeably in the processing of final products, some of which are exported."

An incredible page-turner! I'm lovin' my Monday!

Lawyers and accountants always make for exciting reading. Throw in a statistician and you've got a blockbuster.

You actually graduate from grade 6 now. Isn't that special! Can pre-kindergarten graduation be far behind?

Lawyers and accountants! And I used to complain about the trials of trying to copy edit the ineffable literature spun out by socialites and grade-C celebrities.

Be careful what you wish for, Kate - if you're gonna make that wish, add "and looks like Javier Bardem" to it. Then it's a go.

Have a great, exciting, safe trip!

I only spent time in Barcelona back in the early 60s but I loved it. Lots to see, lots of action. The Catalan are much more free spirited than the Castilianos.

"To date, fuel and plant equipment..."

You know, I must be tired. At first glance I read that sentence fragment a whole different way. I couldn't wait to see what came next. How, I wondered, does one date, fuel and plant equipment? And if you can accomplish all three of those in one night? Home run! Now there's your page turner.

I read it the same way, Earl. I just didn't have the cajones to admit to it.

Kate! What a trip you've got planned. We will expect a travel diary and some photos, you know. Wink

April 28th. One week from today. And even though I think daffy is an attractive guy, I've found someone else.
