And Betsy - why do people have to disagree? 'cause if we didn't, the whole forum would be made up of "you're right" or "I agree" or the ever-lovin' "ditto"...*shudders* [/color]
Differences of opinions are fine. They are the spice of life. It's when it gets downright knockdown drag out (and Rod decks somebody) that I start to worry.
(just kidding, Rod) |

Dollhouse didn't grab me. I may give it another chance.
PostForum: Television Posted: Sat Feb 21, 2009 11:31 am Subject: Alternate Universes
Just caught a few minutes of Dollhouse (by accident). Not for me.
To which sioux replied, "Thanks for letting us know."
Any other posts by me involving Dollhouse, were in reply to posts which questioned my judgement of the show or my not liking Whedon or my countless posts about not caring for Dollhouse (which were all of the two posts that are at the top of this one.
That was my ranting about Dollhouse, Joe. You are as full of shit, as usual.
And Marj, if you remember correctly (you don't) I was urged to continue reading East of Eden because it would get better. It didn't. You seem to think that my criticism of the book was some kind of playing around on my part. Sorry, it was just my opinion on the book, like all the other people on that forum. |

And Gary, I was teasing you more than anything else. Of course, I remember our trying to get you to read more of the book. And perhaps you may remember, or not, I also was disappointed by my second read. |

Gary,
You're too egotisical to understand when you've crossed a line. You'd crossed a line. No one was engaging you in any discussion. Get a clue. |

A current film I'm expecting Marc to see (maybe he's already seen it) is Anvil! The Story of Anvil, which is said to be the best rockumentary since the "mockumentary" This is Spinal Tap, except that Anvil! is for real, the story of a real-life Canadian heavy metal band, its triumphs and heartbreaks. The movie is getting rapturous reviews. |

Here's the website for the film I just wrapped in Atlanta. Check out the frame grabs (sort of like stills) on the "Sneak Peek" link.

I was wondering how you could have forgotten. Thanks for the clarification. |

Oh my God, it seems like Billy is going to die in another movie. He will soon be going under the name of Billy Alavah Sholem. |

I guess I'll have to see Anvil, though I don't know about their triumphs, I never heard of them. I supposed I'm a little out of the loop though. |

Quote: I don't know if Adventureland was actually filmed around Pittsburgh or its suburbs; it's just set there. But a lot of exterior shots sure looked like Pennsylvania geography to me.
I saw it today. Liked it alot. Yep......filmed in Pittsburgh......Kennywood Park was the city's biggest amusement park at the time. And the credits had mention of Smithfield Street (downtown Pgh.) Went to my first Jewish deli in Pgh., made my first Jewish friends there (they were more intelligent and well read). My family was prejudiced again Catholics......subjects the movie brings out. Maybe the director has a Pgh. connection. |

The Italian movie Gomorrah was awarded the Grand Prix at Cannes and was nominated for Golden Globe for Best Foreign movie. It is an excellent film about modern crime families in Naples and vicinity. Several stories run parallel to each other but are interconnected. The full gamut of underworld crimes, including drugs, nurder, firearms sales, gang warfare, illegal dumping of toxic wastes are involved. The realism is more stark than in "Godfather" or "Goodfellas".
