If I were going to employ those talents to affect Oscar results, I would have started by getting In Bruges more nominations.
That would have been literally "fookin' Bruges!" |

LOL, Nancy. I hope you didn't catch cold from me!
And you remind me that I neglected something important. Thanks to all of the category counters and a big THANK YOU to Lorne for his work in putting together that entertaining presentation. |

No, it seems to be a massive attack of hay fever, probably due to cedar trees. I was really miserable today, but I'll feel better eventually. |

Enjoyed most of the Oscars show. Nice new touches with the previous winners announcing the nominees.
Hugh was funny and I think the stiffness of previous years helped bring back some viewers. |

Once in a while - not this year aside from The Duchess (which I'd have nominated had I seen it during nom period), - there comes a film whose score you DO notice. Enchanted is one from last year I'd have nominated. Chocolat from years past, and all the LOTR pics. So dropping Best Score is risky business if a slew of films comes out with awesome music.
Maybe if we - this year (and this is only a suggestion) - looked into the criteria for "best" anything, from art direction and editing to score and costumes, and decided if we want to look deeper into the films we watch on that level. That way the categories can be determined ahead of time.
Hmmmmmm...a nomination-tabulation/vote-tabulation process for category?

Keep Score. So someone never notices. Well I notice it very much. |

We could have had a special category for Best Dog this year. Or do they just go in the regular acting categories? |

Could I nominate Theo for that, Syd? |

Theo should at least get an honorary Blanche for cuteness. |

He's totally award-winning, Nancy - thanks for the smile!
He's a good actor, too. He steals cat food and when I reprimand him, he goes to his own dish and pretends to eat his own food. Either he's a liar or an actor, and I prefer the latter... |

Had that been a category, my vote would have gone to Slum. |

Hmmmm...would that qualify? Or would it be Bolt an actual dog? See, then we get into why Mickey Rourke gets nominated if he's a Wrestler...and why Sean Penn gets nominated if he's a dairy product...
See the dilemma? |
