I'm thinking this *isn't* the original we're talking about...

No, the remake with Sarandon and Gere (*pant pant*). The original, happily enough, is available at my local Blockbuster; I think I'll get that one too.

It ain't Current Film, but I really liked Gere and Sarandon's Shall We Dance. As Lissa said, Richard Jenkins had a small but very pivotal part, and was excellent. J-Lo was a wind-up robot, mostly, but Gere had charisma enough for both of them.

I strongly recommend the original Japanese version.

The Astaire-Rogers original was not in Japanese! Laughing

And it wasn't the same film, despite having the same title. It should be seen also. I haven't seen the Gere film, though.

Gosh, I really disliked IronMan and I heart a RD, J.

Okay, I shall have to see In Bruges if I'm to be in this crowd. Ya talked me into it.

Substitute Iron Man for In Bruges and I could have written those words.

Hi, Lissa, by the way. We've never directly talked to eachother. I gather you are one of the founders of the group. You seem to have taken a break from Third Eye just as I arrived here a few years ago. It's a fun, smart bunch. My tagline, a quotation from G.K. Chesterton's "The Man Who Was Thursday," neatly captures how I feel about the community here, which is why I chose it.

Anyway, I enjoy reading your comments, especially when you really dig a movie, and it's cool that you seem to be back around here again.

Couldn't agree more with Nancy about this. The American version was enjoyable, and Stanley Tucci gives a very funny supporting turn as Gere's sidekick. But the Japanese version is sublime.

Hi, Ehle.

I hope you didn't miss it, but I did welcome you back to Third Eye on New Year's Day.

Hmm, now that I know the Iron Man verdict was unanimous here, maybe it won't be at the top of the queue anytime soon. Think I'll put it after The Namesake and Thank You For Smoking, but before Spiderman 3.

The original's better and makes more sense, but the remake's a pleasant movie. Jennifer Lopez is too wooden for most of the movie, but there's a nice scene when she's demonstrating the tango.
