Okay, I was looking at a site today, and found a bit of trivia. So, what is the world's longest running series in film history? It might be a bit of a guess, but I think people should be able to work this out. I know of one person I'd expect to definitely get this.
...Actually, it's not what I would have guessed, but then again I'm not guessing (for once). So I'll just say "longest-running" is probably more number of films rather than timespan.
And since I'm off to bed now, you're on your own for some hours. |

I just looked on Wikipedia, which claims that the one I was thinking of was actually supplanted by One That No One is Likely to Know. So I'll take #1 or #2 as an answer. |

| Longest-running series used to be the Tora-san movies, but he died about ten years ago, so some Bollywood series may have surpassed his 40+. |

Well, with 48 installments, Tora-san was what I was looking for - the Japan Society is playing some of them - but according to Guinness it's been outstripped by the 99 outings of the Wong Fei Hung series (apparently a compassionate doctor type).
And yes, you're the person I was sure would be able to get this (if you were in a thinking mood).
So now I'm off the hook. |

Well, pull them off the fire because that's the answer.
The Coen brothers were contacted by "the ASPCA or some animal thing" before filming began. "They'd gotten hold of a copy of the script and wanted to know how we were going to treat the mosquitoes. I'm not kidding."[77]
