I like to hold out hope for firefly. If Serenity does well, it's possible someone will ressurect Firefly. WE just have to hope it's a network with more sense than Fox.

Lotang: I read about that "Mr. Strange" book and it sounds quite intriguing, but with all the reading material piled up in front of me right now, I think I'm going to wait for the paperback.

There was an interesting book in the newspaper this weekend "Vamped" by David Sosnowski. What if the world was mostly vampires and humans were "endangered species". What if you find a little girl who is part of an illegal breeding/hunting program? What if you decide to keep her?

Sounds like a good read. Anybody else here about it?

Rented Psycho Beach Party, which features our beloved Nicolas Brendon. Eh. I though he'd gotten all beefy for that movie, but looking at it, he's old-style slender Brendon not later puffy/beefy Brendon (though the change in him occured around the time the movie came out). I wrote a pretty good review, if I do say so myself, but accidentally pushed "submit" when I meant "preview" and frantically pushed the stop button at the top of my page a few times. The computer froze, I couldn't even cut and paste what I'd written, and all was lost. Not even my unfinished version made it to Home Viewing. And I can't work myself up to trying again.

Oh, please do, Joe! I'd love to read it.

Psycho Beach Party also had the actress who plays Claire on Six Feet Under. Mildly amusing, I thought although it sounds like Nicholas doesn't exactly have the best taste in materials. I wish him well.

I never blame an actor for his/her role choices, since the choices are often limited. Even my beloved Sir Alan Bates did a couple of bad movies "to pay the school fees" of his twins. Brendon, however much we all love him, has little visibility apart from the Buffy series. Though one might ask, how come Seth Green is getting so much attention these days? Must have been his Scott Evil bit in the Austin Powers flick that got him noticed.

Yeah, looking at various Buffy/Angel sites, some fans take it hard if their favorite characters(forgetting that these characters are played by actors), take roles that they, the fans, disapprove. Very strange.

Saw on Whedonesque.com that Charisma Carpenter will be doing some episodes of Charmed.

I think it would be great if Charisma got a sitcom like the one in her "alternative life" on Angel. It looked like it would be pretty good (of course I loved The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which it was obviously patterned after).

Carro--Charisma did shoot a pilot, sit/com, for I believe, UPN. Wasn't picked up for the fall season, but maybe not dead in the water? I caught two of her appearances on Miss Match, a charming show that I enjoyed alot(dagnabbit). I think she actually had two more episodes on that, alas, not aired.

Funny you should mention that. When I got home a little while ago and read your post, at that very moment I could hear Danny Strong's voice in the background. He has a recurring role on

and it was on my TV although I wasn't really paying complete attention to it. (And didn't one of the Buffyverse writers and/or producers end up working there, by the way?) Anyway, he gave an online interview on The Bronze posting board a few years back and one of the questions from a poster was "What attracted you to the role of Jonathan?". Strong answered, "The fact that they were willing to pay me money to do it."

Speaking of Seth Green, let's not forget an early acting credit of his. He played the young boy who was Woody Allen's alter ego in

Seth also logged a lot of hours in really bad teen horror/comedy movies before doing Austin Powers. But I suspect it is like that where you go and do something because they are willing to pay you and it's the next step in your career. Without A Paddle looks quite funny actually.

Wasn't it Jane Espenson who went over to Gilmore Girls?

Earl,

Okay, you've forced out of me my Seth Green Aversion story (well, you didn't force it out, I'm using your post as a flimsy pretext). Back when Radio Days came out, Seth Green appeared on the Tonight Show. He struck me as one of those unctiously "professional" child actors. Plastic through and through. Like so many of the kids in the acting classes I took growing up. Later I saw the movie, and didn't care for him there, either. He was such a bland, waspish stand-in for Allen; I much preferred the two kids—brothers, actually— who played him in Annie Hall and Stardust Memories.

So then he disappears for a while. Buffy comes along, I'm a huge fan, and I like Oz. I don't recognize Green. But then a friend who doesn't like the show takes pleasure in pointing out to me that it was the same actor. Ugghhh. And then I start catching interviews with him or celebrity spots. Same plastic persona, except he's replaced the "prefessional youngster" persona with some facile "cool teen" thing. I haven't been able to enjoy Oz since. Sigh.
