I thought someone here would have seen Wall-E by now with all the rave reviews about it. I went to the local $5 theatre last night to see it and I was NOT wowed. It's mostly a visual, message movie dereft of words.....except Wall-E, Eva........over and over and sometimes "plant" and "earth".
I was offended that Wall-E's only companion on the junkyard that the earth had become was a cockroach.......(Pixar......from rats in the kitchen to roaches in the bedroom.....)
I guess it was funny that the Axiom outpost where all the earthlings retreated to under the auspices of BNL (big and large) were pillsbury dough boys attached to their couches.
The romance between Wall-E and Eva wasn't especially moving...SPOILERS......and the return to earth wasn't the heartwarming occasion it was intended to be. |

Quote: Fresh from this summer's success in Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is in final talks to star as the great English detective in Sherlock Holmes – to be directed by Guy Ritchie
I'll be looking forward to this! |

I'm seeing it tomorrow, but you probably know that cockroaches are one of the hardiest and most adaptable creatures on earth, so why NOT a cockroach? |

Quote: What Mr. Obama has going for him during this tailspin is that his opponent seems mortifyingly out-to-lunch. Mr. McCain is a man who aspires to lead the largest economy in the world and yet recently admitted that he doesn’t know how to use a computer, the one modern tool shared by everyone from the post-industrial American work force to Middle Eastern terrorists to Pixar animators. Getting shot down over Vietnam may not be a qualification for president in 2008, but surely a rudimentary facility with a laptop is. What Mr. McCain has going for him is a press corps that often ignores or covers up such embarrassments.
Very interesting quote from that Frank Rich article. McCain not computer-literate! |

I feel sorry for the old guy-- he was asked today why Viagra is covered by health insurance and birth control isn't and he paused-- FOR 8 SECONDS-- and then gave a non-committal answer. If he gets any more dithery, he'll need to be kept away from reporters altogether.... |

It was almost funny on one of the MSNBC shows that was showing McCain being confronted by a veteran who challenged him on his record of voting against veterans' benefits. McCain did the usual politician's thing of answering a different question entirely, but the guy didn't let go. I almost felt sorry for the old guy. I wonder if he's starting to be sorry he ever decided to run for president in the first place. |

Maybe it was just too personal a question...

It's starting to look like, who is trying to lose this election more. With McCain's advantage in cluelessness, Obama hasn't got a chance of winning that contest. He would have to start calling White people names to overcome his disadvantage in the clueless game. |

I tried to see WALL-E today in one of the remaining theaters with air-conditioning. Just not possible! We had major problems with the projector bulb this afternoon. Finally, there was a mass exodus after they stopped the film 3 times. The mgr. seemed clueless and was phoning the corporate offices for guidance.
I can't believe a theater in which 4 of the 7 auditoriums are having a problem of one kind or another. I also can't believe the unapologetic attitude of the staff...they act like they are doing you a favor. |
