It doesn't. Tell us more about the last film you screened...

They'll probably be a Banana Splits movie coming out soon enough.

Did anyone see the Underdog movie? The Dvd is around, but ...
Also, the Wachowski brothers' have a live-action Speed Racer movie coming out later this year.
And while I'm apprehensive about the Get Smart film (not a Steve Carrell fan) I will give that a go.

Actually looking forward to seeing the new Get Smart movie. Mostly because I was a big fan of the TV show (Get Smart and Twilight Zone were my two favorite shows growing up).

My main interest in Speed Racer (which we watched that when I was a kid), is that there's a Korean star (Rain) in it; it's his first Hollywood role (although he's working on #2), and it's minor but apparently significant, and I'm wondering if he'll pull it off.

I liked him in I am a Cyborg, But That's Okay.

We watched Get Smart, too, but I'm not so interested.

I have that one. Just need to find the time to watch it.

And to mention a current film, I saw the latest remake of I Am Legend at the dollar house on 50 Cent Tuesday, and was surprised at how good it was. It was suspenseful and intense. Way better than the Charlton Heston version. I'll have to watch the Vincent Price original (which has always been my favorite) and compare them. Well worth the 50 cents I paid to see it.

I'm looking forward to "Get Smart" too. The female star of "Speed Racer" (Christina Ricci maybe?) was on a talk show recently and I had no interest in the film until I saw the clip. It looks psychedelic and groovy.

The last film I screened was OM SHANTI OM - a mashup of Hollywood and Bollywood musicals that features Indian heart throb Shahrukh Khan. Imagine a synthesis of BYE BYE BIRDIE, SINGING IN THE RAIN, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER with Bollywood movie musicals from the 70s til now and you might get a handle on how wonderfully over-the-top OM SHANTI OM is. Most of the film is shot on elaborate and colorful studio sets and the movie features over 30 Bollywood megastars, both contemporary and classic. Its three hours of movie nirvana!

Just added it to my netflix queue, but apparently the release date is unknown. Do you have any idea when it's scheduled?

One of my coworkers watches primarily Bollywood films (she gives me recommendations, and I sometimes find them playing locally). Shahrukh Khan has come up several times in the conversation.

chilly billy,

OM SHANTI OM is available from Indian DVD distributors and its fairly expensive. Check Amazon. Avoid the bootlegs. They're out there and they look like shit.

Here's a source for the domestic OM SHANTI OM dvd for a very good price. I paid close to $70 for my import.

Just a word about my current film coverage. Tomorrow starts my coverage of the 11th European Union Film Festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center. I'm going to see a new, raved-about Romanian film tonight, The Way I Spent the End of the World. Closing night should be very interesting: Kings, the first film done largely in Irish Gaelic. Colm Meaney stars.

Also, I'm hosting Invitation to the Dance Film Blogathon March 4-10. Details will be forthcoming on my website this weekend.
