Indeed. Personally, I miss the enthusiasm of her posts. But, I guess school is important, too. |

Blech.
Not sure who has Aniston fantasies.
More like "girl next door" type, I'd say.
(I absolutely cannot picture Linney for the life of me).
Then again, when Ledger died, I thought the name seemed very familiar but couldn't place it at all.
Speaking of which, I think it's ridiculous that the housekeeper who found him placed all those calls to Mary Kate Olsen. I mean everyone knows that immediately you should call Tom Cruise, a guy with the ability to help and make a difference.
Agree about Aniston and fantasies. Don´t see it at all.
Linney plays older than the other actresses mentioned. I think that´s part of the problem. She doesn´t fall easily into a niche, but she´s great ...in THE SAVAGES, NANNY DIARIES, and the movie where she´s the law professor with the young lover. |

I thought Rooney's tie comment meant, that, all of the categories had 5 nominees, but the one he presented had 6. So, tie for 5th? |

I much rather enjoy the "Planet Rooney" idea! |

Charles looked so old and frail, it broke my heart. Rooney was just a hoot-n-nanny by himself. I was rolling when he introduced his wife.
I didn't understand Daniel's sorrow over Heath Ledger, he did the same thing on Oprah apparently. He didn't, he stated, know him either but is basking in the mourning cloth. It was a very sweet gesture nonetheless.
Finally, Tom Cruise? Was he supposed to be the cherry on top of the cake? Pity Clooney couldn't be there. |

ACK! See my disclaimer ... just tossing it in to go with my "she doesn't have a niche like these other women do" theory. |

Finally, Tom Cruise? Was he supposed to be the cherry on top of the cake? Pity Clooney couldn't be there. DD-L's regret, and he's far from the only A-lister who has voiced it, is over the sudden loss of someone whose breakout work halted the little "I Could Play That Part" voice that most actors have in their heads, whether they admit to it or not, and marvel at it. As I said earlier post-side, all anybody was talking about a week ago Tuesday (and are still commenting upon) was the unexpected death news. It trumped Aclademy Announcement Day Fallout/Feedback, and that's all but unprecedented in itself. Daniel Day-Lewisohn has told interviewers and press outlets repeatedly this last week that he is unable to stop thinking about Ledger, and Monster's Ball and Brokeback. The pundits and reporters in the press room last night cheered his speech. That happens less often than one might think, invariably a spontaneous expression when it does. Class act, that DD-L.
Mickey Rooney is, to put it kindly, a loon, totally self-absorbed since he was among the Top 10 Box Office Draws (as he will be only too happy to remind one and all). It wasn't his Venerated Veteran moment last night, it was Durning's, but try to tell The Mickster that. Just try; I'd pay money to watch. Planet Rooney, careening across a cracked orbit in the same galaxy as The Dunaway Vortex.
Am pretty sure that Tom Cruise was there with the Hairspray crew (the anticipated Ensemble winner courtesy of Great Big Group Of Bankable Stars Onstage effect, AKA The Crash Factor). John Travolta is another major Scientology player and close friend. The Ex-Mr. Kidman's smile froze visibly at the announcement of NCoFM, while mine bloomed at the sagacity of the SAGGY voters. |

I absolutely thought Mickey was stealing Charles' thunder.
Maybe Daniel was just saying what everyone else couldn't muster the courage to, due to sadness or whatever. Like I said, it was a very nice gesture and probably was exactly what others were thinking.
Ruby Dee was a little out there too, shamelessly plugging her upcoming book. I chalk it up to Rooneyism Part Deux. |

Most likely the hastily inserted still at the end of the memorial montage spurred Mr. MethodAndThenSome

Well, she is up there in years as well; Planet Rooney Rays have a quality of airborne contagion. Also, the Widow Davis defines Criminally Long Overdue. She kinda tickled me (and simply must do a movie opposite Edna Mode, like, tomorrow). Make that Unforgiveably Criminally Way Long Overdue.
For that matter, so does Hol Halbrook, though Chiguhr seems inexorable. There's still a shot, since ballots are out 'till tomorrow, I think, that Supphose slots might flip on The Possibly Picketed Night. Whichever one comes first in the evening will be telling either way -- but there's a sense in the wind today that Red Carpet Patterns have been established. It don't worry me.
SAGGY Press Room Eye-Rollert: Easily the lamest of the lame post-speech press questions (and they were rather less legion than usual) came to the Sopranos crew, asking if, since the show had a gay character, they had any thoughts about the anti-gay protesting going on outside. It was answered in the negative with exactly the amount of incredulous "Huh?" and dismissive NextQuestion? momentum it merited.
Rod, another merveilleux review, merci beaucoups, woo-hoo! Bravo. LOVED this

As a huge and long-time Ruby Dee fan, I'd love to jump on that bandwagon, but the role in American Gangster just wasn't up to Dee's level. I saw her live on stage in A Raisin in the Sun and still remember it 50 years later. A great actress but an unworthy vehicle.
However...
Hal Holbrook deserves that little man, and if I'm telegraphing my Blanche choice in advance, so be it. Holbrook is one of the greatest and Into the Wild may be his personal best. |

I've seen neither fillum. Am merely refracting reactions to, around, under and after last night's SAGGYS. It's all a game, a lesson, a spree. Must go contact the League of Linney Lovers myself, come to think of it. There may be a float this year. |

The "unworthy vehicle" for Ruby Dee is, of course, American Gangster--not A Raisin in the Sun, which was a marvelous vehicle for all the actors involved. |
