I really wanted to make it to some of the screenings this year, but life has been too busy. Switching jobs isn't the easiest thing to do, especially sooner than I expected.
But I may try to head over to Trolley or The Broadway this weekend to see if I can get into any screenings... the stand by list is my only option. |

Ohmygod. I have been away too long. Specs, title, please, thank you. Hopefully no clown make-up is involved. |

And if the weather there is comparable to the weather here (today, cold and damp and gloomy), maybe there'll be some standby slots available. I can only empathize with too-busy lives and unexpected job switches, but one Zell-related crisis at a time. Dress warm, do keep us posted. |

Re: Javier Bardem.
He appeared on the TODAY show Monday. He was great...and seemed to be maintaining his fashion plate image.
He discussed the Chugurgh (sp?) hairdo and mentioned that hairdresser Paul Le Blanc (who used to live in Taos and did a lot of Julia Roberts movies) came up with it with the Coens.
NCFOM seems to be Bardem's "break-thru" movie in the U.S. I hope his nomination will mean that he'll get more work in American films. |

I also read that when the Coen brothers first saw his new hairdo they were doubled over with laughter and Bardem's reply was "well it seems I've created a character"...or something along those lines |

He's already being touted as the bellweather nom in this year's Racso derby, if winning as expected the precursor to a NCfOM sweep, if upset by Wilkinson or Holbrook, cueing up an Anything Can Happen rodeo. (There's much growing Buzz that Juno could be the Upset Spoiler due to grosses and lack of gross-out in This Year of Movie Darkness). Whatever. Javier has definitely Arrived. If the strike ends sooner rather than later, he may start shooting Nine as Guido, to La Belle Penelope's Carla and Mlle. Cotillard's Luisa and The Widow Ponti as Guido's Mother, after all. And Paul Le Blanc created a bona fide hair-don't. Then again, the Buster Brown bowl-cut was but one of the many skeery things about Anton Chiguhr. |

Give details, Gary. I can't be quite that self-promoting. |

Choke, in which I think I have some funny moments, debuted at Sundance Monday night and is still due for some screenings.
It's already been picked up by Fox Searchlight. Stars are Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston. |

The book It scared the living bejeezus outta me, I'd read a chapter and shove it all the way under my bed and scoop it from under the bed with a broom to read another the next night. The movie was a bad paradoy of the book.
The clown doll in Poltergeist (sp?) ... even Jack Nicholson in Batman was friggin' freaky.
billy - you remind me so much of my dad in the sense that you rock your own style. I love it. |

I need to know what this means right now! (I think I love the comment but I need to know exactly what you mean. Love you!) |

See, what I meant about Choke is that I haven't seen the movie so I don't even know whether the director left my bits in the picture. He loved me on set, but you never know. |

If you run the comment through the Inter-Generational Translator it comes out as: "You're hep to your own jive."
Glad to help. |

Wow. If you mentioned this before, I'm sorry I missed it. I will have to see if there are any other viewings of this. I need a break...and a movie break, especially one with you in it, would be a nice treat.
One doc that I want to see is "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden", done by Morgan Spurlock ("Supersize Me"). |

Eastern Promises is as good a thriller as they come. I liked it better than A History of Violence. Both Mortensen and Mueller-Stahl are excellent. |
