That was the ending shown in theatres in SA, thank G*d. My kids and I loved it.

The squeamish side of me wished the coda hadn't happened. But it was a better ending.

Just finishing up Infamous, the second Capote movie. In some ways I like it better than the first one. It takes itself quite a bit less seriously for the most part, and some scenes are really funny. Toby Jones as Capote is more of a cartoon than Hoffman, but more entertaining as well.

Daniel Craig is much more successful as James Bond than he is as killer Perry Smith. The parts of the movie dealing directly with the In Cold Blood murder are not as good as they were in Capote.

I know this will seem like sacrilege to the Catherine Keener fan club (of which I am a frequent member), but I prefer Sandra Bullock's Harper Lee to Keener's.

Indeed. "Shut your pie hole." What a demeaning thing to say to a child. And that was a good moment for him. I thought the way Ellen Barkin just rolled with that comment was interesting. She had known worse men, or thought she had.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that. Looks like I should pick it up. No reason to skip[ it just because it was second. But somehow it feels like watching both of Clint's WWII movies.

Has anyone seen For Your Consideration (Christopher Guest)?
Hard to get a read if it's worthwhile or not. It was released around last Thanksgiving.
The plot revolves around a small indie film that gets re-wroked to enhance commercial viability and surprisingly starts rolling towards a potential date with an Oscar. So it's at least topical, as award season just passed.
But is it good?
I know Guests earlier "mockumentaries" have been well-received, but I haven't managed to see any of them.

For Your Consideration is well worth a handful of Yuan and possbily a couple of hours of your time as well. If mockumentaries are your thing, it's well up to the Guest standard and arguably better than A Mighty Wind. Of course, there'll only ever be one Spinal Tap.

For Your Consideration is fun, probably as good as Waiting for Guffman.

Re-watched De Palma's Blow Out for the umpteenth millionth time. As always, I consider it a classic. The suspense still gets to me. And I love how he primes us to enjoy the gruesome deaths of minor characters, even taunting us a couple of times that maybe something won't happen, so that we hope it will. This is Catholic guilt in the service of a great, gaudy art.

It's really picky to be so into ranking, but For Your Consideration IMO is better than A Mighty Wind, slightly less good than Waiting for Guffman, and right about on a par with Best in Show. Bottom line: they're all worth seeing, but A Mighty Wind is the one I could live without. It's just not as...funny.

FYC has a great performance by Catherine O'Hara which all by itself makes the movie a must.

And to continue being picky, it's This Boy's Life, yam.

I like Best in Show the best of the Guests. For Your Consideration is worth seeing for Catherine O'Hara and Parker Posey at their best.

You should see both of Eastwood's WWII movies. They're both good. Flags of Our Fathers is well worth seeing, though not one of Eastwood's best films. Letters from Iwo Jima is one of his best, second only to Unforgiven in my opinion.

For Your Consideration is good, and you should see it. It's not quite as funny as some of Guest's other mockumentaries, but it has a hilarious performance by Catherine O'Hara. I saw it just before the Oscars, and I kept wondering: if Helen Mirren loses, will she have her face frozen and her boobs lifted? And the scenes from "Home for Purim" are not to be missed. See it.

Harry Shearer is also good. Loved his commercial for Hula Balls. Made me want to rush right out and not buy them.

I too think Best in Show is the best from Guest.
