Syd, you're the only one here who has mastered the art of quoting himself (maybe Mo does that too?). I like it, it kicks my brain out of auto-pilot. I'm going to pay attention and figure out how to do that. Except I plan to take it one step further and disagree with my earlier points.
You should have a quote and an edit button on your own posts. Just use the quote button. Some forums don't give you an edit button, which is why some people unintentially quote themselves.

It always appears white on my computer, but I fiddled with my browser settings yesterday and then your avatar had a black border. White material. Lissa made if for me, and it looks to me like the cat's coming through paper. |

I'm so glad Joe. Too bad it's too late to vote, but then you haven't been voting at all, have you? Same with you, Chilly, though you have been voting. Too bad your getting the film so late. |

It's true, I didn't vote (thought I still had time, and maybe should have done it at 2 am after I watched the movie). But once the votes are compiled and the final contestants are announced, I can vote then if she makes it through. |

Two other movies I watched last night.
The Devil Wears Prada was funny, but after about 30 min. I turned it off because it was essentially the same five minutes over and over.
The Black Dahlia was much better, and I enjoyed it a lot. But looking back on it, I realize it's still latter-day De Palma, i.e. entirely lacking the sense of personal obsession the early director had. What would that earlier guy have made of all the voyeurs and the machinery (the old movie cameras, the development of crime photos, etc.) and the old-movie style recreation? How would his wicked sense of humor played with it all?
A good movie, but a slick, professional job. I still enjoyed the look and feel of it, which was sort of a beautifully embalmed corpse. Choices like that at least keep the movie from seeming annonymous. |

She didn't. |

Oh well, another sign that awards are ephemeral. |

I liked the Devil Wears Prada. It was pretty good. Anne Hathaway was good in it. I really want to see The Black Dahlia. |

I watched The Devil Wear's Prada on an aeroplane while eating with a plastic knife and fork. I quite enjoyed it, but I didn't feel I'd missed out on anything by not watching it in a more conducive setting. |

To me, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA is one of those wonderful movies about the world of high fashion. I'll be curious to see how it holds up as the years pass.
Certainly FUNNY FACE with Audrey Hepburn and Antonioni's BLOW UP have remained classics. |

It's true that the movie is somewhat predictable, but you missed out on seeing Meryl Streep's complete performance, specifically her one-on-one scene with Hathaway. |

Yeah. Beer League came before it did. Bettie Page is on tap for tomorrow. |

A accumulation of small things like that and the perfomances of Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci can raise a film. |

Agreed. I really liked Emily Blunt's character and Tucci's humor-laced dialog. |

Five minute's repetition of one good idea is the hallmark of a hit pop song. No wonder repetition of the same five minutes would make for a hit pop movie. |
