Be warned -- this isn't the STUPIDEST or FUNNIEST of that genre.
Marc and I were talking about JACKASS 2 the other day. It's supposed to be REALLY STUPID, but he says it's always rented out.
I'm in the middle of watching Jackass 2 at the moment. If there are certain movies that are chick flicks, this is without question a guy flick. Women in general I'm sure would find it reprehensible or worse. But for those of my gender it's a blast. |

Will transsexuals like it?

One critic I read recently said Jackass 2 was the funniest and most meaningful documentary of the year, as it showed what people were willing to do for imagining better things, as opposed to patronising them over how they lived. |

mo_flixx wrote: I saw the HOUSE OF SAND yesterday. This is a Brazilian film which is stunningly photographed in a bleak sandy landscape. Although it's in color, the only real colors we see are black, white, and brown plus the blue sky and water. Very striking visually. 2 of Brazil's best actresses star: Fernanda Montenegro and Fernanda Torres (think I've got their names right).
The story follows the saga of a matriarchy throughout 60 years dating from 1912 in this desolate beach area.
I wish the movie had been a little shorter and hadn't tried so hard to tie up all the loose ends before concluding. We are told A LOT in this film...and maybe a lot that we don't really need to know.
I found it satisfying as a purely abstract work, more of a kinetic painting than as an actual narrative.
Still strongly recommended, however.
Sorry - your right (and Under the Sand is a great film also) - I fixed my post |

I think my favorite stupid movie is WAYNE'S WORLD.
Now I LOVED Jackass 2... even funnier than the first. And billy is right that it's a guy's movie... but I've never laughed harder in recent memory.
Even movielover likes a few of the Jackass stunts that I have shown her from the TV show DVD set. |

Actually my fiance laughed a good amount when we saw Jackass 2 in the theater. But overall, it's a guy thing. |

A friend tells me the Jackass movies are the most homoerotic non-porn available. Any comments? |

Meanwhile.
The Lady From Shanghai. Glorious. Hilarious. Endlessly quotable. Stylish. Absurd. An anti-Hollywood Hollywood film. Incoherent. Butchered. Self-mocking. Film noir as satire of other film noir. Welles is king. All hail Welles. |

A documentary? I guess I could see that being it's live action of people on camera.
Interesting twist. |

Party Boy... Chris Pontius. That is pretty damn funny... especially when he goes into that electronics store in Japan and starts dancing around. |

I'll go ahead and be nitpicky. The title of the movie is Jackass Number Two. That's "Number Two."
I haven't seen the movie, but I suppose it's safe to assume it was given that title because it is the thing which it bespeaks? |

Yes, that is correct. As is the official title of the movie. It's just easier to type Jackass 2. |

I am somehow reminded (Mo!) that over the weekend, TCM ran Metropolis on its silent movie Saturday show. I saw it when I was in college, many many years ago, on a pretty bad print. My review of it after seeing it again?
Holy Crap! Holy, Holy, CRAP! I gotta see that again, like, now! |
