why would you see a film for the first time on a ipod? not exactly an ideal viewing screen

Well, that's one reason why I've not seen it. I really like to watch movies for the first time on the bigger screen. The iPod and PSP helps me catch up with TV shows and other audio shows.

She's The Man. This one was chosen by my fiance. For some reason she really wanted to see this film. It was ok, but it was a chick flick.... but not the emotional kind... more like the fun kind. I don't remember seeing Amanda Bynes in previous movies, but I really didn't get into the film until towards the end. This reminded me of the movie Bring It On, but I enjoyed that movie more than this one.

I've seen Bynes twice, in Big Fat Liar, where she was funny in a mediocre movie, and What a Girl Wants, an awful movie where they didn't know how to use her. She also voiced one of the robots in Robots.

I'm kind of curious about She's the Man because it's based on Twelfth Night.

During the opening credits, it lists that the movie was inspired by "Twelfth Night" I was loosely based, with the story and some of the characters following the play's overall story line.
SPOLIER
For example, Amanda Bynes' character has a twin brother. She plays him when the women's soccer team gets shutdown. She pretends to be him to be on the soccer team.
END SPOILER

I thought the actors could have done a better job. Comparing it to other movies that borrowed from books or plays, Clueless was a much better movie adaptation for it's take on the Jane Austen story, "Emma"

Yeah... to some degree, I am. That's why I have alternate devices to watch TV shows and movies on. Although there's times when I get interrupted with the headphones on, too.

The movie is as dumb as anything you'll ever see, but Bynes makes it a cute movie. The jokes are really only funny because of her delivery.

And, yes, Joe (and what a memory you have, sir!), it was me (I?) who talked about my daughter's admiration for Michelle Williams's performance in Dick. (Must say her talent had eluded me.) I share Harry's underwhelmed attitude toward the (IMO) overpraised Kirsten Dunst. She's a good actress, but nothing like the quintessential screen icon she is sometimes posited as.

Thanks! I do wish I was as good with names. So many people I run into whose life stoy I remember perfectly, but I have no idea what their names are.

Has it never occured to you that when you don't like a movie that everyone else praises that everyone else may be wrong?

I don't get this one. Explain.

Chilly,

In your review you seemed to feel you had to apologize for not liking the movie by making some positive comments about the performances, etc. The movie was a dog. Period. You needn't justify your opinion. I would take your word on the worth of a movie more than most of the "movie buffs" who frequent this site because you don't try to impress anyone with your knowledge and expertise.

Hilarious. Mr "I worked in publishing, so I know all about fiction," Mr. "I worked on movie sets, so I know the terminology on silent-era movie lots," congratulates Chilly on no trying to impress anyone with his knowledge and expertise. Holy hypocrisy, Batman!

Another genius heard from!

How are the studies going, Joe? I hope you're cracking the books. Y'know if you don't apply yourself dilligently and pay attention to what your professors have to say an orginal thought might infect your mind and give you a terrible brain cramp.

Holy, faux pas, Spiderman!

It just occured to me, Joe, that you probably are a professor.

So forget what I said about being infected by an original thought.

You're immune.

I haven't had a date in almost a year, about 8 months. What are you talking about?
